Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) now have a direct and faster way to connect with the Philippine government through the newly launched Kumusta Kabayan App, a digital welfare monitoring tool designed to protect and support Filipinos abroad.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) introduced the mobile application in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure the welfare and safety of OFWs wherever they may be.
DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac said the app was built to establish closer communication with OFWs and to guarantee immediate assistance when needed. “The Kumusta Kabayan App was jointly developed by the DMW and OWWA for direct monitoring of our OFWs’ condition. More than anything, we want every OFW to feel their importance as our Bagong Bayani because we ourselves will call them to check on their situation and ensure timely help,” he stressed.
The app links directly to the DMW-OWWA electronic system and database, covering OFW registration, membership, case management, and welfare reporting. Among its key features is the Kumusta Kabayan Survey, where workers can report on their employer relations, living and working conditions, and the timeliness of salary payments.
It also provides 24/7 access to emergency hotlines, including the DMW-OWWA lines and 1348, as well as the contact details of Migrant Workers Offices and regional branches. Through the platform, OFWs can also easily request assistance from the DMW AKSYON Fund, which covers repatriation, legal aid, financial support, and reintegration programs.
