Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Terminal A has welcomed a new addition as Hainan Airlines inaugurated its two weekly flights connecting the UAE capital with Haikou, the capital city of China’s Hainan province. Commencing operations on January 30th, this move signifies a significant boost in transport and trade links for both passengers and cargo between the two regions.
With burgeoning trade, tourism, and business relations between Abu Dhabi and China, the new flight route caters to the increasing demand for air travel options. Notably, this marks the first time in a decade that a Chinese carrier has offered scheduled flights to Abu Dhabi. Departing from the state-of-the-art Terminal A, the flights to Haikou further solidify Abu Dhabi’s standing as a global transport hub, serving both passengers and cargo.
Elena Sorlini, the Managing Director and Interim CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, expressed her delight, stating, “We are pleased to welcome Hainan Airlines to Abu Dhabi. It marks an important milestone for Abu Dhabi Airports and the broader UAE-China relationship. The launch of this new airline boosts our connectivity, and the route will further enhance bilateral relations and create new business and tourism opportunities between the two global destinations.”
Mr. Ma Wang Yi Jin, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Office Hainan Airlines, added, “Hainan Airlines is honored to be part of this important milestone, coinciding with the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dragon. We are committed to providing exceptional service and convenience for passengers traveling between Abu Dhabi and Haikou.”
