TMZ has drawn attention on social media after using an outdated photo of former couple Kim Chiu and Xian Lim in a Chinese New Year post.
The American news site shared a carousel of celebrities celebrating the occasion on Instagram, featuring stars such as John Legend, Michelle Yeoh, Philip Wang, and Kelly Hu. However, followers quickly pointed out that the image of Kim and Xian, where they are seen in red outfits embracing beside a festive feast, was from 2022.
“Research before posting. They broke up already,” one commenter pointed out. Another remarked, “TMZ is not doing their research. Pic 4 is an old photo of a Filipino celebrity couple who split years ago.”
Despite the feedback, TMZ has not taken down or edited the post as of this writing.
Kim and Xian announced their breakup in December 2023 after nearly 12 years together. While Kim remains single, Xian has been dating filmmaker Iris Lee since last year, clarifying that their relationship began after his split with Kim.
