Netflix has unveiled that “Pulang Araw,” a new historical drama from Kapuso, will debut on the streaming platform starting July 26. The announcement, made on social media Monday, featured a video with the cast, including Dennis Trillo, Alden Richards, Sanya Lopez, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco. The actors, dressed in their period costumes, greeted viewers warmly and playfully participated in the famous Netflix “tudum” sound.
Set during World War II, “Pulang Araw” captivated audiences with a teaser video released on New Year’s Day, showcasing intense scenes with fighter jets and warning sirens. The series centers on half-sisters Adelina and Teresita, played by Barbie Forteza and Sanya Lopez, who are bodabil stars. Alden Richards takes on the role of Eduardo, their half-brother of American descent. Dennis Trillo, in his first antagonist role, portrays a Japanese soldier.
The show also features Rhian Ramos, Epy Quizon, Angelu De Leon, Rochelle Pangilinan, and Aidan Veneracion. “Pulang Araw” is directed by Dominic Zapata with a storyline penned by Suzette Doctolero.
