Neri Miranda allegedly arrested for SEC violation; no official statement yet

Speculations are swirling around the alleged arrest of actress and entrepreneur Neri Miranda last Saturday, November 23. According to talent manager and online host Ogie Diaz, Neri was reportedly detained by Pasay City authorities for violating Section 28 of Republic Act 8799, also known as the Securities Regulation Code.

The law prohibits individuals from acting as brokers, dealers, or salespeople without proper registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Ogie shared this information on his YouTube vlog Showbiz Update on November 24, citing a source close to the incident.

“May impormasyon kaming natanggap na inaresto siya ng Pasay City Police dahil sa paglabag sa Section 28 ng RA 8799,” Ogie revealed, adding that Neri is allegedly being regarded as one of the “top most wanted persons.”

Details surrounding the case remain unclear, including the exact nature of the complaint and the individuals behind it. Ogie speculated that the issue may have stemmed from a business-related dispute involving the actress, known for her savvy entrepreneurial ventures.

Neri and her husband, Chito Miranda, have not addressed the rumors. Neri’s last social media post was on November 22, where she greeted their son, Miggy, a happy birthday. Chito, the lead vocalist of Parokya ni Edgar, has also remained silent despite followers asking about the controversy.

As of now, no official statement has been released by Neri or her representatives. Followers are urged to wait for verified information and refrain from making premature judgments.
