A hotel in Talisay City, Negros Occidental has made history by setting the Guinness World Record for the largest building in the shape of a chicken. The structure, known as “Manok ni Cano Gwapo,” stands at an impressive 114.7 feet in height, spans 39.9 feet in width, and stretches 92.5 feet in length.
The unique creation is the brainchild of Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan, owner of Campuestohan Highland Resort. Tan shared with Guinness World Records, “I had a vision to make something with a wow factor that can really leave a footprint of admiration to the public.”
The massive chicken-shaped building is more than just a visual spectacle; Tan emphasized that it embodies the local culture of Negros Occidental. “Negros Occidental has a gamefowl industry that employs millions of people in the Philippines. If you look at a rooster, it looks calm and commanding, imposing and strong which reflects the attitude of our people,” he said.
Construction of the landmark began in June 2023 and was completed by September 2024. Campuestohan Highland Resort, where the record-breaking building is located, also features 15 air-conditioned hotel rooms, a wave pool, a restaurant, a cafe, a swimming pool, Bonita huts, and hundreds of animated figures, including dinosaurs and famous characters.
