GMA Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes has addressed rumors surrounding the future of the noontime show It’s Showtime on GMA, confirming that discussions for the renewal of its contract are ongoing.
Speculation had surfaced online suggesting that the ABS-CBN-produced show’s contract with GMA would end in December, with the noontime slot potentially being replaced by the Kapuso variety show TiktoClock.
In a statement released through GMA Network’s official Instagram page on Friday, Nov. 22, Gozon-Valdes clarified, “We are in the process of negotiations now for the renewal of Showtime.”
The executive refrained from providing further details, while ABS-CBN and the show’s production team have yet to issue a statement.
It’s Showtime began airing on GMA’s GTV channel in July 2023 and later made its debut on the main GMA channel in April 2024. The partnership marked a significant collaboration between the two networks, fostering frequent celebrity crossovers and joint projects.
During the contract signing earlier this year, host Vice Ganda expressed gratitude to GMA, highlighting the network’s role in helping ABS-CBN rebuild its platform after challenges. Vice remarked, “Hindi niyo lang kami tinulungan makatayo, pinagbuksan niyo pa kami ng tahanan para muling magpalakas… Hindi tumindig mag-isa, pero tumindig nang magkasama.”
