Nego Kart program launched to help returning OFWs start small businesses

A livelihood initiative designed to support overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have returned home without renewed job contracts has been launched by the OFW Party List group, according to a report by Peoples Taliba.

Former OFW Party List representative Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino said the Nego Kart Project aims to help displaced and returning OFWs generate income as they rebuild their lives in the Philippines.

She noted that 46 mobile livelihood carts will be distributed, prioritizing workers who were repatriated amid conflicts in several countries and those who decided to stay home for good.

Magsino emphasized that many returning OFWs struggle to meet daily expenses and support their families once their overseas income stops.

“Naiintindihan natin ang kalagayan ng ating mga kababayang OFWs na hindi na makakapag-abroad. Siyempre nga naman wala na silang kita,” she said, stressing the need for immediate livelihood assistance.

She added that the Nego Kart program comes at a crucial time, especially with the holiday season fast approaching.

“Kaya inilunsad natin itong Nego Kart para sila ay ating matulungan na tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang kanilang income sa pamamagitan ng negosyo,” she said.

Magsino also pointed out that the initiative can help OFWs avoid financial strain during the festive period, saying the project offers an opportunity to save and prepare for family needs.

“Sa pamamagitan nitong Nego Kart hindi na mamo-mroblema ang ating mga OFWs kung saan sila kukuha ng pera para sa holiday season,” she said. “Itong Nego Kart ang solusyon sa kanilang problema dahil kahit papaano ay makaka-ipon sila para naman may pang-Noche Buena sila sa kanilang pamilya.”
