Nearly half of Filipinos use generative AI monthly for work and personal life

A recent JobStreet report reveals that 46% of Filipinos use Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) for work and personal tasks at least once a month, surpassing the global average of 39% and the Southeast Asian average of 44%. Since its introduction last year, 60% of Filipinos have experimented with GenAI tools, such as ChatGPT and Meta AI.

The high adoption rate in the Philippines is led by industries like digitalization and data science, where 77% of workers use GenAI, followed by IT (65%) and marketing (59%). On the other hand, manual work and logistics industries show lower adoption rates at 37%.

For personal use, 58% of Filipinos turn to GenAI for skills development and learning, while 54% rely on it for general knowledge. At work, the technology is primarily used for writing, administrative tasks, and research.

Despite its growing popularity, concerns remain about GenAI’s potential to generate false information, with 48% of Filipino users reviewing and modifying AI-generated content—higher than the global average of 42%. Challenges like slow internet and difficulties crafting prompts also hinder broader adoption.

Filipinos aged 18-24 are the most frequent users of GenAI, while 44% of the population remains unfamiliar with the technology. Although 82% believe GenAI will transform their work, only 7% fear it could render their jobs obsolete. Interestingly, manual workers express the most concern about job security, even as GenAI adoption in their sector remains relatively low.
