Nearly 200 Filipino workers in UAE receive food relief from their own boss amid regional unrest

Nearly 200 employees of Pinas Group of Companies received sacks of rice and essential grocery items from the company’s chief executive as the cargo and logistics firm navigates financial pressure tied to the ongoing regional situation affecting the UAE and surrounding Gulf states.

The relief distribution was initiated by CEO Marlyn Castro, who the company said acted out of concern for employees who may themselves be feeling the weight of the current crisis. Pinas Cargo, which operates in the logistics and cargo sector, acknowledged that the industry has not been insulated from the disruptions affecting businesses across the region.

Beyond the welfare gesture, the company publicly thanked the UAE government for what it described as effective management of the situation and the maintenance of stability during a period it characterized as broadly challenging.

Pinas Group framed Castro’s decision as a reflection of corporate values that extend beyond operations — positioning the relief effort as a demonstration of leadership during a period of uncertainty rather than a formal employee assistance program.
