The distribution of government assistance in Calatagan, Batangas placed the spotlight on the scale of support extended to migrant workers’ families affected by the recent typhoon, as officials released a combined ₱5,990,000 to residents across 24 barangays.
The large turnout of beneficiaries defined the day’s activity, with 1,198 households receiving Quick Aksyon Fund Assistance meant to help them regain their footing after the storm. Local leaders and national officials attended the gathering to ensure the aid reached families directly, including DMW Assistant Secretaries Venecio V. Legaspi and Jerome A. Alcantara, DMW4A Regional Director Atty. April R. Casabuena, OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, OWWA Regional Welfare Office IV-A Regional Director Rosario C. Burayag, and Calatagan Mayor Rico B. Puno.
Officials underscored that the initiative was more than a financial transaction. The presence of agency representatives was intended to show families that institutional support continues even after the disaster response phase. The aid provided to each household served as a reminder that assistance for OFW families remains a priority, especially during periods of crisis.
