UAE residents can expect a respite from the long, hot summer as temperatures are set to drop to as low as 23ºC next week, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Cooler and fresher winds are anticipated across various parts of the country, signaling the end of the summer season.
This weekend, the forecast includes fairly cloudy conditions with increasing humidity at night.
Residents in Abu Dhabi will experience lows of 29ºC on Saturday, while Dubai will see temperatures dropping to 26ºC on Sunday. Despite the lower temperatures, highs will still reach a scorching 42ºC.
In the upcoming days, the region will witness northeasterly winds at speeds reaching up to 40km/h, resulting in blowing dust across the area.
The month of September marks not only the end of summer but is also known for being the most humid month in the UAE. The lowest temperature recorded today, September 22, was a relatively mild 25.2ºC in Damtha, Al Ain.
The autumn equinox, marking the official commencement of autumn, falls on Saturday, September 23.
This astronomical event occurs when the sun is positioned directly above the equator, resulting in equal amounts of sunlight for both the northern and southern hemispheres.
