NBI files cyber libel, unlawful publication raps vs vlogger Jack Argota

A social media post about the President’s health has led to criminal complaints being lodged before the Department of Justice.

The National Bureau of Investigation confirmed that it submitted charges of unlawful publication and cyber libel against vlogger Jack Argota, also known online as Sir Jack. The complaints were filed with the DOJ’s docket section on February 24 and 25, 2026, following an inquiry into the circulation of a purported medical document involving President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Investigators said Argota uploaded and shared an alleged medical certificate relating to the President’s reported diagnosis of diverticulitis. The document later turned out to be fabricated. Authorities are pursuing the cyber libel charge under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, along with a separate complaint for unlawful publication.

Argota has acknowledged posting the document and previously stated that he believed it to be authentic at the time he shared it. He also admitted that the material was not genuine and said he reposted it to keep up with online trends and increase engagement on his platform.

NBI officials who handled the filing declined to be identified but confirmed to reporters that the complaints were formally received by the DOJ for preliminary assessment. The case now moves to the prosecution stage, where investigators will determine whether sufficient grounds exist to elevate the charges in court.
