The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is planning to establish a processing center at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4 to ensure VIP passengers undergo stringent security measures, according to MIAA General Manager Eric Ines. In an exclusive interview with the Philippine News Agency, Ines revealed that the center could be operational by mid-next week.
The proposed center will be located in an area within Terminal 4, equipped with X-ray machines and manned by Immigration and Customs personnel around the clock. This move follows a suggestion from Senator Raffy Tulfo, who highlighted concerns about VIP passengers bypassing standard security checks when boarding private or chartered planes.
Ines emphasized that the process of setting up the center requires careful planning to address potential challenges. While the terminal will continue to function as a domestic terminal, this new measure aims to ensure all passengers, regardless of status, adhere to strict security protocols.
