Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista has announced a new measure to alleviate congestion at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA 3). Bautista revealed that some chairs will be removed from the arrival hall to address the issue.
In a recent inspection ahead of the Holy Week travel rush, Bautista observed overcrowding at the arrival area, with many individuals occupying seats, some of whom were not passengers or waiting for passengers. He expressed concerns about potential scams targeting arriving passengers.
“Sa arrival, babawasan mga silya doon sa terminal 3. Maraming nakaupo lang naka standby, iba dyan naghihintay na magkaroon ng scam,” said Bautista.
Bautista further advised against large welcoming parties, suggesting that families opt to receive their loved ones at home instead of at the airport to ease congestion.
“Kung pwede wag masyadong marami sumusundo. Normally isang tao susunduin pero 10 family members sumusundo, minsan 1 o 2 sasakyan dala nila. Hintayin na lang sa bahay,” he added.
The Secretary expressed satisfaction with the current operations at NAIA, stating that the airport’s situation has normalized. He also urged the public to refrain from discussing the previous pest control issue, noting that it has been resolved.
“Mayroon tayong regular pest control everyday.”
