NAIA implements parallel parking at Terminals 1 and 2 after deadly car crash

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has introduced a new parallel parking system at the drop-off areas of Terminals 1 and 2, following a deadly accident that killed two people and injured four others last Sunday.

Under the new setup, a wide white lane is exclusively designated for departing passengers, ensuring a safer disembarkation process. The New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) has provided three parallel parking lanes for all vehicle types, strictly prohibiting waiting and diagonal parking to maintain a smooth traffic flow.

The changes are part of a broader initiative to enhance passenger safety and efficiency at the airport’s curbside areas. The bollards, which serve as protective barriers, have also been properly cemented for added security.

The implementation of these adjustments was directed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President Ramon Ang, prioritizing the safety of the riding public.
