NAIA handles over 2.5 million passengers during holiday season, sets new annual record

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) processed more than 2.5 million passengers between December 15 and 31, 2024, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA). The figure includes over 1.2 million domestic and international arrivals and more than 1.3 million departures from all NAIA terminals.

During the same period, the airport recorded 14,254 flights. On New Year’s Day alone, 136,990 passengers passed through NAIA, with the majority arriving from holiday breaks in the provinces or overseas.

MIAA General Manager Eric Ines projected a continued influx of passengers through January 5, as some extended their vacations.

For 2024, NAIA served a record-breaking 50.1 million passengers across 293,506 flights, surpassing the pre-pandemic levels of 2019. The New NAIA Infra Corp (NNIC) attributed the surge to recovering global travel demand and vowed to enhance airport services in 2025.
