MWO Dubai reiterates airspace closure advisory despite ceasefire, urges OFWs to stay alert

The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai has reiterated its advisory on the closure of several airspaces in the Middle East, following rising tensions in the region despite a recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

In MWO Dubai Advisory No. 17, the Philippine government emphasized that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) currently in transit or bound for affected GCC countries should remain cautious and take necessary steps to verify their travel arrangements.

“OFWs… are advised to check the status of their flights with their respective airlines and travel agencies for announcement on cancellations, rerouting and other ways forward,” the advisory stated. Those already stranded are also encouraged to coordinate with their airlines and their respective FRAs or PRAs for possible flights back to Manila.

MWO Dubai assured the public that they are monitoring the situation closely and committed to safeguarding the welfare of affected Filipino nationals. “MWO Dubai will continue to monitor the situation and ensure the well-being of those who are stranded,” the statement read.

The public is also warned against misinformation. “OFWs who are in the UAE are advised to closely monitor and check reputable and credible news sources… Please stay vigilant and avoid spreading fake news to avoid panic and distress to other people,” the advisory added.
