Residents and tourists alike have a unique chance to delve into the rich culture and heritage of the UAE as museums in Sharjah are now open to the public for free until March 3.
Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is extending this invitation, granting complimentary entry to its various museums including Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, Bait Al Naboodah, and Hisn Khorfakkan.
Moreover, SMA introduces the ‘Museums Express’, a mobile bus museum initiative that will take visitors on a journey through Sharjah Museum collections. This initiative will be operational in Dibba Al Hisn on February 28, and at the Heart of Sharjah on March 1 and March 3.
Visitors not only get to enjoy free entry but can also participate in workshops tailored to immerse them in the Emirate’s rich heritage and history. Workshops include the Al Hisn Towers workshop at Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn) delving into the history of the iconic 1823 AD edifice.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about Sharjah’s history, the ruling family, ancient defense tactics, governance systems, and the everyday life of the emirate.
Bait Al Naboodah, known for its exquisite heritage architecture, will host a workshop where participants can paint floral and geometric designs on gypsum casts. Sharjah Calligraphy Museum will offer a ‘Letter Pendant’ workshop, teaching how to craft unique pendants featuring Arabic letters.
Additionally, there will be exhibitions such as ‘Geometric and Floral Ornaments’ at Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi in Kalba, and ‘The Art of Architectural Decoration in the Emirate of Sharjah’ at Bait Al Naboodah.
Sharjah Calligraphy Museum will also present the “Honourable Ornament” exhibition from March 1 until August 18, 2024.
The museums are open from Saturday to Thursday between 8 am and 8 pm, and on Fridays from 4 pm to 8 pm.
