Muscat International Airport in Oman is implementing stricter boarding procedures for passengers starting August 4, 2024. The new regulations focus on the boarding pass system (PBS) area, situated between the check-in counters and passport control.
Passengers will now be required to clear this checkpoint no later than 40 minutes before their scheduled departure time. However, departure gates will continue to close 20 minutes before departure, as per the existing protocol.
The airport issued a notice explaining that this adjustment aims to streamline processing and ensure timely flight departures. The revised timeframe is expected to help passengers complete passport control and security checks more efficiently.
Oman Air, the national carrier, has also notified passengers about this change. The airline confirmed that its check-in procedures remain unchanged, with check-in counters closing 60 minutes before departure.
Travellers are urged to adhere to these new guidelines to ensure a smooth travel experience.
