Mumbai police have launched an investigation after a local doctor reported discovering part of a human finger in an ice cream cone ordered online.
Dr. Orlem Brendan Serrao, residing in Mumbai, claimed he found the partial digit in a Yummo Ice Creams cone that his sister ordered via a grocery delivery app. Serrao recounted the disturbing incident in a widely shared social media post.
“I had ordered three ice cream cones from an app. One of them was a butterscotch ice cream of the Yummo brand. After eating half of it, I felt a solid piece in my mouth. I thought it could be a nut or a chocolate piece and spat it out to check what it was,” Serrao wrote. To his shock, the object turned out to be about an inch-long portion of a human finger, which he later showed in a video accompanying his post.
The doctor and his sister immediately reported the incident to the police. Mumbai Police have registered a case and sent the alleged finger for forensic examination. The police emphasized that they are treating the incident with utmost seriousness and will thoroughly investigate the possibility that the finger’s presence could be linked to a crime.
Walko Food Co Ltd., the owner of the Yummo Ice Creams brand, confirmed receiving a complaint from a customer regarding the purported finger. A spokesperson for the company told NDTV, “We have stopped manufacturing at this third-party facility, isolated the said product at the facility and our warehouses, and are in the process of doing the same at the market level.”
The ice cream maker has pledged full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.
