MTRCB summons Viva over content creator’s remarks at ‘Dreamboi’ premiere

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has summoned Viva Communications, Inc. after a viral video showed one of its content creators making profane comments allegedly aimed at the agency during the premiere of Dreamboi, an official entry to the CineSilip Film Festival 2025.

In a letter sent to Viva President Vincent G. Del Rosario dated October 23, the MTRCB said the incident was “disrespectful” to the institution and to the people behind its work. The agency stressed that the dialogue seeks to foster accountability and responsible public behavior.

The Board emphasized that the exchange will support its ongoing effort to encourage respectful collaboration with entertainment stakeholders. “In line with our Responsableng Panonood campaign and our vision for healthy collaborative practices with our stakeholders, we would like to invite you for a dialogue on the said report,” the letter stated.

While acknowledging artistic freedom, the Board underscored its concern over inappropriate language directed toward public institutions. “While we respect freedom of expression, the Agency views with serious concern the use of language that undermines respect for public institutions and the standards governing film classification,” the MTRCB said.

The meeting is scheduled for November 4 and is expected to center on promoting professionalism and accountable conduct within the entertainment community.
