Popular YouTuber Mr. Beast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is officially engaged to girlfriend Thea Booysen. Donaldson revealed the joyful news on Instagram, sharing photos of the proposal with the caption, “Ya boy did a thing.”
The proposal took place on Christmas Day with their families present, as confirmed in an exclusive interview with People. Donaldson shared that he added a playful twist to the occasion by dropping a large box to draw attention before presenting the actual gift — a ring — and getting down on one knee.
Known for his elaborate stunts on YouTube, Donaldson opted for a simpler, more personal approach for this life-changing moment. “I wanted the proposal to be private and intimate,” he explained, adding that including Booysen’s family was a priority since they were visiting from abroad.
The couple first met in 2022 during Donaldson’s trip to South Africa, where a mutual friend introduced them over dinner. As for their wedding plans, the pair is considering an island venue to ensure a secluded celebration.
