Motorist in Dubai gets AED 25,000 fine, licence suspension for drunk driving mishap

An Asian man in Dubai has been ordered to pay a Dh25,000 fine and will have his driving licence suspended for three months after causing a traffic accident while under the influence of alcohol, Gulf News reported.

Court records showed that the man admitted to driving in an impaired state after consuming alcohol without a permit. Prosecutors accused him of drinking outside legally permitted circumstances, driving under the influence, and damaging public property.

According to case files, he lost control of his car, swerved sharply, and crashed into a metal pole on a public road, causing damage to both the pole and his vehicle.

The court’s decision was based on an accident expert’s findings and the defendant’s own confession. Judges opted to reduce the penalty, taking into account his admission of guilt and the circumstances surrounding the case.
