Mother warns about gas leaks after rat damages hose at home: ‘Goodbye world sana kami’

A concerned mother shared a harrowing experience on social media to warn others about the dangers of unchecked gas leaks at home, after discovering that a rat had gnawed through their gas hose.

In a Facebook post from Diary ni Mama, she described how she and her children almost faced a tragic accident. “Please always check your gas lalo na yung hose ng gas. Kanina muntik na kami maging kwento mag iina,” she wrote.

She recounted that while lying down in the living room, she suddenly smelled gas, prompting her to immediately check the stove. Finding it turned off, she decided to inspect the gas tank hidden behind the curtain, where she heard a strong hissing sound. “Pag open ko ng kurtina sa baba kung saan nakatago yung tangke ng gasul, dun ko lang narinig yung malakas na singaw ng gas,” she said.

Realizing the danger, she quickly turned off the gas and evacuated the house with her three children. Upon closer inspection, they found that a rat had chewed through the gas hose. “Buti nalang di ko naisipan mag luto kanina kundi goodbye world talaga kami,” she added.

She also posted a photo showing the damaged gas hose, visibly gnawed and with large holes.

The post drew comments from other netizens sharing their own practices and concerns. Cherry Cartina Vesido advised, “Dapat kahit patay ang burner, dapat pati tangke turn off din… at every time lagi I check kung nakasarado ang tangke pra iwas panganib.” Another commenter, Ar Cei, expressed shock upon seeing the photo, saying, “Omg pala yan ningangatngat ng daga. Ingat po ang lahat.”

Grapa Letada echoed similar advice, emphasizing the importance of checking the gas after cooking because “madaming daga.” Meanwhile, Rafael Maninang shared his experience from welding work, stating that based on his observations, tanks don’t easily explode if the valve is open, although he still stressed the need for caution.

“Be safe always,” commented Sheila De Leon Ramirez, a sentiment that resonated with many others reacting to the post.
