A mother lost her life and her two children sustained injuries after their motorcycle was struck by a bus in Pandag, Maguindanao del Sur.
The tragic incident occurred as the family was en route to Buluan to enroll the children in school. According a GMA Regional TV report, citing the police, the mother was driving the motorcycle with her 10- and 11-year-old children when they were rear-ended by a bus trying to avoid a rough patch on the cement road.
PSSGT. Rizalde Sumensil of the Pandag Municipal Police Station explained that the bus driver honked his horn before the collision, but failed to stop in time. “The bus driver avoided a bumpy portion of the cement road while the motorcycle was in front of him. He blew his horn but hit the rear of the motorcycle. This caused the female rider to fall down and she slipped underneath the front tire of the bus,” Sumensil said.
The two children were thrown from the motorcycle upon impact and suffered minor injuries. Authorities are continuing the investigation.
