A woman was arrested in Marilao, Bulacan, after allegedly trying to sell her infant son through social media, the Philippine National Police Women and Children’s Protection Center (PNP WCPC) confirmed on Tuesday.
According to the PNP WCPC, the suspect was caught in an entrapment operation on November 5 after offering her baby for “illegal adoption.” Investigators said she initially priced the child at ₱20,000 before later raising it to ₱25,000.
Police took the woman into custody and brought her to the WCPC office in Camp Crame, where she awaits charges for violating Section 4 of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended by RA No. 10364, or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act. Authorities said she may also face additional charges under Section 7 of Republic Act No. 7610, which protects children from abuse and exploitation.
The infant has been turned over to the local social welfare and development office for proper care and assessment.
