More than 1,200 overseas workers in Bahrain attended the Christmas Day parish celebration

Approximately 1,200 participants attended the morning and afternoon celebrations of the parish Christmas program titled “Home Away from Home,” held on Christmas Day at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bahrain.

This Christmas Day event aimed to provide support, festive cheer, and joy to overseas workers of all nationalities, including Filipinos, Indians, Sri Lankans, Africans, and others. The program was open to everyone, including non-Catholics, highlighting the parish’s commitment to inclusivity, compassion, and unity.

“Home Away from Home” was a parish-wide event under the leadership of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Padavupurackkal Joseph, and was organized by the Filipino Catholic Community. The event was coordinated by Mr. Ulysses Dela Cruz, Coordinator of the Filipino Catholic Community.

The prizes and gifts distributed during the program were made possible through the generosity of parishioners and communities. Funds were sourced from the Midnight Mass offerings, contributions from the Poor of St. Anthony (POSA), and donations from other communities of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Through the “Home Away from Home” program, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its diverse communities continue to live out the true spirit of Christmas ensuring that people far from home experience warmth, hope, and a sense of belonging, regardless of nationality or faith.

The success of “Home Away from Home” reflects not only the generosity and dedication of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its parishioners but also the power of community in bringing people together. By celebrating the season of giving, joy, and togetherness, the parish reaffirmed that even far from home, everyone can find connection, comfort, and the true meaning of Christmas.
