More savings for OFWs: PAL extends discounted domestic fares until end of 2025

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) can continue to enjoy exclusive domestic flight discounts from Philippine Airlines (PAL) until December 31, 2025, under a renewed partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Active OWWA members with eCards are entitled to a 10 percent discount on Economy Value base fares and 5 percent on Economy Saver fares for domestic routes. To avail of the offer, OFWs must present valid identification such as an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), Certificate of Employment, or a Seaman’s Booklet when booking tickets through PAL offices or authorized travel agents across the country. The digital OWWA Card may also be presented at the time of booking and again during check-in.

OWWA said that the initiative is expected to benefit around 400,000 OFWs nationwide, including about 240,000 in Iloilo alone.

“This gesture truly reflects much compassion and respect to our modern-day heroes, making their fares more affordable and filled with care. Together, we share the same vision of uplifting the lives of our OFWs and bringing them closer to their loved ones,” said Overseas Workers Welfare Officer Remon A. Albeza, who expressed gratitude to PAL for its continued support.

The collaboration between PAL and OWWA reaffirms the airline’s commitment to supporting the Filipino workforce abroad and helping them stay connected with their families.

In a related development, PAL announced the launch of direct Cebu–Guam flights starting December 16, expanding international options for Western Visayas travelers. The new route will operate three times weekly—departing Cebu every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:40 p.m., with return flights from Guam every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

According to PAL Regional Head Bryan L. Ang, the service enhances Cebu’s role as an international gateway and strengthens links between the Visayas and Mindanao regions and Guam, boosting opportunities for trade, tourism, and family reunions.

“For our friends and partners in Guam, the new Cebu service reinforces Cebu’s position as a strategic international gateway. It will provide easier access to Visayas and Mindanao regions, fostering greater opportunities for businesses, trade, and tourism across the Philippine islands,” Ang said.

Cheska Dizon, Associate Director for Marketing of the Guam Visitors Bureau, also emphasized that the route “connects people, strengthens communities, and inspires discovery on both sides.”

To further support connectivity, PAL has introduced a third daily Cebu–Iloilo–Cebu flight, enabling faster transfers between Iloilo and Guam. Passengers can now travel from Iloilo to Guam via Cebu in just one hour and 30 minutes, and return in two hours and 50 minutes.
