Actor Mon Confiado has made it clear that he will not be withdrawing the cyber libel complaint he recently filed against content creator Jeff Jacinto, also known as Ileiad. The complaint, which was filed with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), stemmed from a social media post by Jacinto that allegedly spread false information about the actor.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Confiado revealed that Jacinto reached out to him, asking him to withdraw the complaint. “Nagmamakaawa, nag-apologize. Pero ang mali niya, hindi niya tinanggal agad yung post,” Confiado said, expressing frustration that Jacinto did not immediately remove the offending post even after being asked to do so.
Confiado emphasized that the legal case would proceed, stating, “Tuloy. Hindi ko alam saan pupunta kaso, it does not matter. Ang importante maging aware tayo lahat na hindi pwede gagawa basta ng kwento.” He underscored the importance of accountability, highlighting that such actions should not be dismissed as mere jokes.
In a Facebook post, Confiado explained his decision to file the complaint, urging people to be mindful of the consequences of using someone’s name and image without permission. “Nawa’y maging aral sa iyo ito at sa ating lahat,” he wrote, adding that not all jokes are harmless and that they should never be at the expense of others.
Confiado, who described himself as a peaceful person with no history of conflicts, said he was shocked when his name and image were used in the viral post. “Bilang aktor, ang aking pangalan ay aking pinagkaka ingat-ingatan dahil ito ang aking puhunan para ako ay makakuha ng trabaho,” he explained, stressing the importance of protecting his reputation in the industry.
