A cat that went missing at Yellowstone National Park in the US has been reunited with its owners after an incredible 1,200-kilometer journey over two months. The two-year-old Siamese, named Rayne Beau, was found by a pet rescue organization in California and returned to its family.
Rayne Beau disappeared on June 4 while his owners, Susanne and Benny Anguiano from Salinas, California, were staying at Fishing Bridge RV Park. After searching for him in the park for five days, they reluctantly left without their beloved pet.
“We had to leave without him. That was the hardest day because I felt like I was abandoning him,” Benny Anguiano shared in an interview.
A month later, the couple adopted a new cat to keep Rayne Beau’s sibling, Starr, company. However, they were shocked when they received a call from the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Roseville, California, saying Rayne Beau had been found wandering the streets, 1,200 kilometers away from Wyoming and only 305 kilometers from Salinas.
Thanks to Rayne Beau’s microchip, the rescue center was able to contact the Anguianos. Despite losing nearly half his body weight, from six kilograms to three, Rayne Beau was finally back with his family.
“We are ecstatic to have him back,” Susanne said. “I look at him every day and am so grateful, telling him, ‘Do you know how many weeks I had been praying to see that face again?’”
