Mikey Williams returns to Philippine basketball with Strong Group Athletics for Dubai championship

Mikey Williams, a two-time PBA Finals MVP for TNT Tropang Giga, is set to make a much-anticipated comeback in Philippine basketball. He will join Strong Group Athletics as they compete in the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship, slated to run from January 24 to February 2, 2025.

The tournament, held annually in Dubai, attracts top teams and players from around the globe. Williams’ addition bolsters the already competitive lineup of Strong Group Athletics, which aims to secure the championship after finishing as runners-up in the previous edition. The team has also signed former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins and retained key players like Rhenz Abando and Dave Ildefonso.

Williams, known for his scoring prowess and playmaking skills, is expected to play a significant role in the team’s campaign. His experience in high-stakes games and status as one of the PBA’s elite players make him a key figure to watch in this international tournament.

Strong Group Athletics will face stiff competition from other participating teams, including Zamboanga Valientes, which features notable players like Kyt Jimenez and 7-foot-6 center Samuel Deguara, as well as defending champions Al Riyadi Club Beirut from Lebanon.
