The Philippine National Police – National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) reported a significant 21.71% drop in crime incidents in Metro Manila from January 1 to February 15, 2025, compared to the same period last year.
Based on NCRPO data released Tuesday, the number of focus crimes recorded in the region fell from 852 cases in early 2024 to 667 cases this year. Focus crimes include homicide, murder, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, and vehicle theft.
The breakdown showed homicide cases dropping by 50%, rape by 41.57%, physical injuries by 38%, murder by 34.62%, and theft by 23.08%.
Additionally, the NCRPO reported an improvement in crime solution efficiency, rising from 93.91% in 2024 to 95.84% in 2025.
NCRPO Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin attributed the crime reduction to the strong collaboration between the police force and the community.
