McDonald’s UAE outlets cleared of E. coli risk, says environment ministry

The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed on Friday that food served at McDonald’s outlets in the country is free from E. coli bacteria. In a statement, the ministry assured that the fast-food chain’s products meet safety and quality standards, thanks to regular inspections by UAE regulatory authorities.

This comes amid an E. coli outbreak in the US, which has caused one death and left 10 people hospitalized. US health agencies are investigating McDonald’s suppliers, particularly slivered onions and beef patties, as potential sources of the contamination. The US Department of Agriculture suspects onions to be the primary cause.
