Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and her siblings, Wesley and Shiela, reportedly fled the Philippines using a “small boat,” according to Shiela’s testimony before a Senate subcommittee on Justice.
“We took a boat at sea. I don’t know the location,” Shiela told the panel, which was investigating Guo’s escape last month amidst ongoing legal issues linked to her alleged involvement with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
There are no official records showing Guo’s departure from the country. Shiela, along with Cassandra Ong, was apprehended in Indonesia last week. During the Senate hearing, Shiela recounted that after dinner, they were picked up by a van and transported to an unknown port around midnight.
“We left the house, and there was a vehicle waiting for us, a van. I don’t know where it was, but we traveled for several hours, arriving around midnight,” she said.
Shiela further described transferring to a larger “fishing boat” after a few hours at sea and eventually to another vessel that took them to Malaysia. Her lawyer, Stephen David, requested an executive session to provide more details about their escape from the Philippines.
