Matet de Leon was reduced to tears during a recent live-selling session on TikTok after encountering a harsh comment that touched on her late mother, the legendary Nora Aunor.
The emotional moment happened on June 29 while the actress was selling canned goods and dairy products on her page. In the middle of explaining one of the items, De Leon suddenly broke down and wiped her tears using her shirt, visibly shaken by what she had read.
“I don’t know why there are people who are fond of being mean. You are very mean to me when my mom is already dead,” she said, holding back sobs. “I’m just doing my job.”
Though she did not specify which remark triggered the breakdown, netizens who tuned in pointed to comments from a viewer with the handle @eightersgonnaeight, who allegedly wrote, “Wala na kayo project?” and “Suplada ‘to kaya iniwan ni Ate Guy.”
De Leon later clarified on a separate post that it wasn’t live-selling that made her cry. “I am very happy whenever I go on-live. Even when I am going through something, I still do live-selling. I always show up,” she said.
She added, “I cried yesterday because of that one heartless and shameless person. But doing live-selling, I love it.”
The actress went on to thank her loyal supporters and promised to focus on the positive moving forward. “From now on, I will avoid reading comments and I will do my best so that the job I love would not be affected,” she said.
Matet is one of Nora Aunor’s five children. The National Artist passed away on April 16 due to acute respiratory failure.
