The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced that Mashreq Metro Station will now be known as InsuranceMarket Metro Station. This rebranding is part of a ten-year naming rights agreement and is situated on the Red Line between Mall of The Emirates and Dubai Internet City Metro Stations on Sheikh Zayed Road.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the RTA is in the process of updating outdoor signage, smart and electronic systems, and audio announcements on metro carriages to reflect the new station name. These updates are expected to be completed by November this year.
Commuters have been advised to note the change and can seek assistance from RTA staff at the stations if needed.
Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Kalbat, CEO of the Rail Agency at RTA, emphasized that naming metro stations after companies is a strategic partnership with the private sector to stimulate economic growth in Dubai. This initiative provides companies a unique advertising opportunity while supporting the city’s economic objectives.
The renaming of metro stations is part of a broader revenue-generating strategy by the RTA, which has been selling naming rights since 2009 to bolster its income. Other stations, such as Al Safa, Dubai Marina, and Al Jaffliya, have also been renamed under similar agreements.
