Kapamilya actors Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings are teaming up once again in the upcoming Netflix film Sosyal Climbers, set to premiere on February 27.
Netflix unveiled the trailer on Thursday, revealing a romantic comedy that follows a couple who take on fake identities to con affluent individuals. The over-a-minute-long clip opens with Racal and Jennings’ characters settling into a lavish mansion, soon mingling with their wealthy neighbors. Struggling with overwhelming debt, the pair is forced to keep up their ruse.
In one scene, Racal’s character declares, “P2.5 million ‘yong kailangan natin. Wala tayong choice kundi magpanggap,” hinting at a scheme involving their neighbors’ failing marriages.
The duo, known as “MaThon” by fans, first gained attention through the 2023 series Can’t Buy Me Love. They currently appear in the action-drama Incognito. However, their on-screen chemistry was overshadowed last year by controversy, when Jennings’ former partner publicly accused him of infidelity, allegedly involving Racal. The issue sparked widespread online debate before both actors issued apologies.
