President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos officially awarded five housing units to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as part of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program. This historic turnover marked the inaugural distribution of housing units under the flagship initiative.
The ceremonial awarding was held at Malacañan Palace during the Pamaskong Handog para sa OFWs event. Also present were Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.
Recipients of the symbolic keys to their new homes were Jeramie Leyno, a painter in Japan; Madeleine Anne Mallare from Saudi Arabia; Ramon Mabiog from Japan; Fatima Tolentino from Singapore; and Rogelio Crisostomo from Libya. All beneficiaries applied through the Palayan City Township Project, endorsed by the local government and vetted by DMW and Pag-IBIG Fund. They also visited the housing site in Barangay Atate.
Under the 4PH program, beneficiaries receive national government support for their monthly amortization. Secretary Acuzar highlighted the program as a testament to the Marcos administration’s commitment to supporting OFWs and their families. He acknowledged the vital role of OFWs in bolstering the economy and expressed hopes for expanded access to future housing projects.
The event also included a raffle of four additional housing units to over 500 OFWs and their dependents in attendance. This milestone turnover follows a Joint Memorandum Circular between DHSUD and DMW signed last October.
