President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. stated on Wednesday that individuals who assisted dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo in fleeing the country will face charges.
Speaking to reporters at the Palace, Marcos emphasized the consequences for those implicated in aiding Guo’s illegal departure from the Philippines. “All of those who are implicated in assisting Alice Guo to leave the Philippines illegally as a fugitive from justice will certainly pay the price,” he said.
When questioned about who might be held accountable, Marcos responded, “You’ll find out soon enough.” He further stressed that not only would these individuals lose their jobs, but they would also face legal action for violating the law and undermining the Philippine judicial system.
Last month, Marcos had warned that “heads will roll” following Guo’s escape, and he mentioned that an investigation into the matter was already in progress. He also hinted that he had “a very, very good idea” about who would be implicated.
Guo was apprehended in Indonesia early Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC). According to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who cited information from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Guo is currently in the custody of Indonesian police after her arrest in Tangerang City, Indonesia.
In a video message, Marcos warned those attempting to avoid justice in the Philippines, stating, “The arm of the law is long and it will reach you.” Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, is facing several legal issues, including alleged involvement in the operations of an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban, Tarlac.
