President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared that “heads will roll” following the controversial departure of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, who has been implicated in offshore illegal gaming operations. The President announced that a full-scale investigation is underway to determine how Guo managed to leave the country despite facing serious charges, and promised that those responsible for aiding her escape will be identified, suspended, and held accountable.
“LET ME BE CLEAR: Heads will roll,” Marcos emphasized, highlighting that Guo’s departure reveals deep-seated corruption within the justice system, which ultimately erodes public trust. “There is no room in this government for anyone who places personal interest above serving the Filipino people with honor, integrity, and justice,” he added.
The Office of the President had earlier ordered the cancellation of the passports of Guo, her siblings Wesley and Sheila, and businesswoman Cassandra Ong. Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin explained that the cancellation was made under the “New Philippine Passport Act,” citing national security concerns and noting that Guo had already fled the country.
Bersamin also pointed out that Guo and her family had refused to cooperate with Senate inquiries into the illegal activities of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), resulting in the issuance of arrest warrants. Further criminal charges related to human trafficking and POGO involvement are being prepared against her.
In response to these developments, Bersamin’s memorandum directed the immediate cancellation of the passports to prevent further evasion of justice.
