Marcos urges Asian leaders to invest in clean energy and tech hubs in the Philippines

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has positioned the Philippines as a promising destination for clean energy and digital investments, saying the country is ready to host the next wave of renewable-powered factories and technology-driven hubs.

Addressing top Asian business leaders at the 14th Asian Business Summit in Malacañang on Thursday, July 3, Marcos highlighted efforts to attract investments that would generate high-quality employment and accelerate the country’s modernization.

“Soon, we will see factories powered by renewable energy and digital hubs rising across the country, bringing progress closer to every Filipino family,” the President told delegates during a courtesy call.

The summit, hosted by the Philippines for the second time since 2014, brings together key players from 12 economies. It is co-organized by the Philippines-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee (PHILJEC) and Japan’s business federation Keidanren.

PHILJEC Chairman Richard Osmond, joined by Co-Chairmen Alfred Ty of Toyota Motor Philippines and Ferdinand Ferrer of Gruppo EMS, led the Japanese delegation, which also included Keidanren Vice Chairmen Endo Nobuhiro of NEC and Hyodo Masayuki of Sumitomo.

Marcos emphasized stronger regional collaboration as vital to navigating today’s complex global environment. “The interrelationships between our different countries are going to be the key to stability and development and progress,” he said.

The Asian Business Summit was initiated by Keidanren in 2010 to foster regional economic dialogue and partnerships. The latest edition marks the Philippines’ renewed push to attract sustainable and tech-based industries.
