President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has called on newly promoted generals and flag officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to keep their loyalty anchored on the 1987 Constitution and the Filipino people.
Speaking at Malacañang Palace after administering the oath-taking of at least 40 officers, Marcos underscored the importance of integrity, rule of law, and democracy in military service.
“Huwag kalilimutan, ang panunumpa ninyo ngayon ay sa Republika at sa bawat Pilipinong nagtitiwala at dahil sa inyo, sila ay mabubuhay nang ligtas at may dangal,” the President said, reminding them of their duty to ensure the safety and dignity of every Filipino.
He also stressed that their new ranks symbolize not only achievement but a deeper responsibility. “Today is not only a milestone but a renewed pledge that your loyalty remains with the Constitution and the Filipino people. Always act with integrity, uphold the rule of law, defend our democracy,” he added.
Marcos praised the officers for their professionalism and readiness, saying their service has strengthened public confidence in the AFP’s ability to defend the nation’s sovereignty. “You have achieved much this year, so this promotion is well-deserved,” he noted.
The President urged the military to boost its presence across air, land, and sea, while also deepening ties with allies for regional stability. He assured the government’s commitment to support the AFP with resources and benefits so officers can fully focus on their mission.
Among those sworn in was Brigadier General Jude Ejercito, wing commander of the 5th Air Force Wing Reserve and son of former President Joseph Estrada.
The ceremony came shortly after the AFP reiterated its full backing of the administration’s anti-corruption campaign, reaffirming its role as a professional and non-partisan institution.
