Marcos signs law creating 100-bed government hospital in Lucena

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially signed into law the creation of a new government hospital in Lucena City, Quezon, aiming to boost access to essential health services in the region.

The newly signed Republic Act No. 12211, made public through the Official Gazette on May 23, mandates the establishment of the Lucena City Hospital — a Level 1 general hospital with a 100-bed capacity. The facility will operate under the direct management of the Department of Health (DOH).

Under the law, the DOH is tasked with implementing the project and ensuring it receives funding through the annual General Appropriations Act. It also includes standard provisions on severability and repeals any existing laws or policies that conflict with the new measure.

The law takes effect 15 days after its publication in either the Official Gazette or a widely circulated newspaper.
