President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Saturday spearheaded the rollout of special Student Beep Cards that automatically grant half-priced fares across Metro Manila’s train lines.
The ceremonial launch took place at Legarda Station of the LRT-2, where the President personally introduced the white-colored cards designed for students commuting on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3.
“We’re very happy to be able to launch this new system to give the beep cards to our students,” Marcos said during the event.
The initiative is part of the administration’s broader effort to make public transport more affordable and convenient, especially for daily student commuters.
According to the Department of Transportation, on-the-spot printing is now available for these student cards, along with similar white cards for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs). From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., students, seniors, and PWDs can get their cards produced within minutes at designated stations.
