President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno at Malacañang on Friday to discuss the city’s participation in several major national government projects aimed at improving infrastructure and social welfare in the capital.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the discussion centered on housing, bridges, transportation, and urban redevelopment plans. Among the major undertakings mentioned were the construction of the North and South Harbor Bridge, the retrofitting of the Lambingan Bridge, the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) pipe-laying project in Pandacan—expected to enhance the city’s water supply network.
The PCO added that the meeting also touched on environmental and social programs such as the Greater Metro Manila Waterways Cleaning and Clearing Operations and the Bayanihan sa Estero initiative.
Other topics included the need to strengthen infrastructure monitoring systems, extend social assistance to families living on the streets through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and other Department of Social Welfare and Development initiatives, and intensify public awareness efforts for nationwide programs like the National Immunization Program and the National ID registration.
