President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed optimism on Tuesday after the latest OCTA Research survey showed that most Filipinos still trust him and remain satisfied with his leadership.
Based on the survey conducted from April 2 to 5, 60 percent of respondents said they trusted the President, while 59 percent were satisfied with how he is running the country. In an ABS-CBN News report, Marcos said the numbers reflect how Filipinos are beginning to appreciate the efforts of his administration.
“It continues to inspire me because it shows that we’re making progress,” he said, noting that it can sometimes be hard to gauge whether people feel the impact of government initiatives. “Mabuti naman at nakikita ng taong bayan na yung ginagawa natin para makakatulong ito sa pampaganda sa kanilang buhay.”
The latest OCTA poll came on the heels of a Pulse Asia survey which earlier showed a decline in the President’s trust and approval ratings amid tensions surrounding the International Criminal Court’s actions on former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Despite criticisms, Malacañang has maintained that the President remains focused. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro earlier said Marcos is determined to fulfill his mandate regardless of fluctuations in public opinion.
