Marcos dismisses impeachment calls against Duterte, says it won’t benefit Filipinos

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has dismissed calls for Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment, calling it a distraction that would not benefit the Filipino people. Speaking on the matter, Marcos underscored his belief that pursuing such actions would be a waste of legislative time and resources.

“This is not important. This does not make any difference to even one single Filipino life. So, why waste time on this?” Marcos said in his statement, which was also shared by the Presidential Communications Office.

The President elaborated on the potential consequences of impeachment proceedings, emphasizing the toll it would take on both the House of Representatives and the Senate. “What will happen if somebody files an impeachment? It will tie down the House, it will tie down the Senate. It will just take up all our time and for what? For nothing, for nothing,” he stated.

Marcos reiterated his commitment to focusing on issues that directly impact the public rather than engaging in political disputes. “None of this will help improve a single Filipino life. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a storm in a teacup,” he concluded.

The President’s remarks come amidst a heated political climate following controversial statements made by Vice President Duterte and mounting tension between the two leaders.
