Marcos approves P5,000 productivity incentive for public sector workers

A new P5,000 productivity-based incentive will be released to a wide range of public sector personnel following approval from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to Malacañang.

The cash grant will cover employees in national government agencies, local government units, state universities and colleges, government-owned or -controlled corporations, and uniformed services, expanding its reach across civilian and security institutions.

The incentive follows the issuance of a Department of Budget and Management circular dated December 17, 2025, which outlined the purpose of the benefit as a performance-linked reward. The document states that the grant is intended for “government employees as a reward for exceeding agency and financial performance targets, and to motivate employee efforts toward higher productivity.”

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the approval reflects official recognition of the role played by state workers in delivering public services.

She added that the move aligns with the administration’s broader workplace goals.

Castro also relayed the President’s view that public servants deserve formal acknowledgment for their sustained contributions.
