In a recent survey conducted by the Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. (PAPI) from July 28 to August 2, Dante Marcoleta has emerged as the top senatorial choice among Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). The survey, which involved key OFW organizations, highlights Marcoleta’s strong advocacy for protecting OFWs’ rights as a significant factor in his popularity.
Erwin Tulfo, known for his programs supporting OFW welfare, closely follows Marcoleta, while former President Rodrigo Duterte ranks third, gaining support for his continued commitment to the welfare of Filipino workers abroad and his fight against drugs in the Philippines.
Other candidates who made it to the top 12 include Imee Marcos, Tito Sotto, Ping Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, Bato dela Rosa, Francis Tolentino, Pia Cayetano, Willie Ong, and Bong Go.
The survey results were gathered from members of the OFW Veterans Association (OVA) and Patriyotikong Pilipino, two prominent groups representing Filipino expatriates. Leaders from these organizations, including Ferdinand delos Reyes, Rolando Buenafe, and Roberto Tan, played key roles in voicing the political preferences of the OFW community.
